Perspective

Take a look at these photographs:

Now, try to draw any of these examples!

Drawing in PERSPECTIVE allows us to give the illusion of DEPTH.

1. Draw the horizon line in the middle of the paper.

2. Draw a dot in the middle (vanishing point) and make an “X” from corner to corner passing through the dot.

3. Draw the sidewalks first from the vanishing point.

4. Draw the trees and buildings starting on the bottom on the “X” all the way to the vanishing point, descending towards the middle.

5. Now add anything you want: Cars, trucks, planes, restaurants, people, bridges, parades, parks, pedestrians, lights, etc, etc

Pointillism

What is Pointillism? It is a technique of painting in which small dots of color form an image.

George Seurat developed this technique in 1886. George Seurat's masterpiece is A Sunday afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.

Every bit of the painting is done with tiny Little dots of pure color. It took him 2 years to finish it!

Watch this video and learn more about Seurat and Pointillism.

Now you're ready to create your pointillism masterpiece!!
